We are celebrating after being nominated for the following awards:
- YMCA of the year
- Family work project of the year for our Mediation and Counselling services
- COVID Community Hero for the work done by YMCA Burton Staff member Tom Foster.
We will be attending the highly anticipated return of YMCA’s Youth Matters Awards in November, but in order to take home the top prize, we need your help!
We have operated across East Staffordshire since 1887 and triumphed over strong competition from other YMCAs across England and Wales during shortlisting, but in order to make it to the final stage of judging, we have to win the public vote.
Paul Laffey, our Chief Executive said:

The team has worked incredibly hard to support our young people and community through an exceptionally difficult time, and regardless of the outcome on the night I could not be prouder of everything they have delivered and achieved.”
Youth Matters is YMCA’s national awards programme marking an integral part of the charity’s calendar since 2009, and was sorely missed last year due to COVID-19. It celebrates the outstanding skills and achievements of young people from across the country and also recognises the vital work that YMCAs deliver every day. After an incredibly challenging time, this year’s awards are even more vital in recognising the innovation and resilience shown by YMCAs in the continued and unwavering support shown for their communities.
Locally, our charity provides housing, outreach services, a food bank, mediation and counselling services and operates four furniture shops.
